Weleda Visiodoron Euphrasia comp.® Eye Ointment

The blend of eyebright, calendula, and echinacea helps to relieve symptoms of conjunctivitis, blepharitis, chalazion, and styes. Eyebright soothes symptoms such as itching, burning, and pain in inflamed, watery, and red eyes. Calendula and echinacea have anti-inflammatory properties and support the healing process. Furthermore, echinacea stimulates the immune system.
 
A stye manifests as a unilateral, pea-sized swelling and inflammation of glands on the eyelid margin, usually caused by bacteria. It often shows strong redness, can be very painful, and tends to recur frequently.
 A chalazion also appears as a nodule-like swelling of glands on the eyelid margin, but is usually painless.
 
In the case of blepharitis, the eyelid margins are stuck together in the morning, and scales and crusts may be present along the entire eyelid margin, accompanied by burning and itching in the eyes.
 

If symptoms such as redness, swelling, and pain do not subside within 2 days despite using the eye ointment or eye drops, it is advisable to consult a doctor. 
 
The eye ointment is preservative-free and well-tolerated. It can be used by the entire family – including infants. However, for children under one year of age, a doctor should be consulted beforehand.
 
Note for styes:
Apply a strand of ointment into the conjunctival sac. Usually, the stye opens on its own after a few days; the discharge can drain, and the inflammation heals without complications. Dry heat from infrared light supports the 'ripening' of the stye and the breakthrough of the discharge. It is important not to manipulate the swelling on your own, as this can worsen the condition. If necessary, an ophthalmologist will open the stye.
 
 Recommendation for conjunctivitis:
 For conjunctivitis, it is recommended to use Visiodoron Euphrasia eye drops (also available in single-dose units) or Visiodoron Calendula eye drops during the day. The eye ointment is particularly suitable for nighttime use. Simply apply a strand of ointment into the conjunctival sac just before bedtime and let it work overnight.

To support healing in: uncomplicated conjunctivitis, blepharitis (characterized by sticky eyelids in the morning), chalazion (which usually appears as a painless, nodule-like swelling on the eyelid margin), and styes (which are associated with painful inflammation on the eyelid margin and often tend to recur).
 
 Pregnancy and Lactation
 There are currently insufficient data on the use of this medicine during pregnancy and lactation. There is no evidence of an increased risk when used during this period. Nevertheless, caution should be exercised when using it during pregnancy and lactation.

Adults, adolescents, and children from one year of age: 1 to 4 times daily.
For ophthalmic use. Apply a strand of ointment into the conjunctival sac or to the eyelid margins.

1 g contains: Echinacea angustifolia (Planta tota) Rh Ø 0.03 g, Euphrasia (Planta tota) Rh Ø 0.05 g, Calendula officinalis e floribus cum calycibus sicc. Paraffinum liquidum 0.05 g.
 
 Other ingredients are: White petrolatum, Liquid paraffin, Cholesterol, Water for injections.
