Organic evening primrose oil is produced by cold-pressing the seeds of Oenothera species, particularly Oenothera biennis L. and Oenothera erythrosepala Borb.

It contains particularly high levels of linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (8-12%) and is therefore valued as a dietary supplement in natural medicine.

The oil has a yellow to yellow-green color, a nutty scent, and a mild taste.
