Mucosolvan® Solution – effective help for congested coughs

Congested cold coughs should not be left untreated. If tough mucus remains in the bronchi, cold viruses can more easily establish themselves and further strain the airways.

Mucosolvan® Solution 7.5 mg / 1 ml supports mucus dissolution in the trachea and bronchi and facilitates the expectoration of stubborn secretions.

The active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride works in several ways:

• It supports the movement of the cilia in the airways

• It activates the natural self-cleaning mechanisms of the lungs

• It thins tough mucus

• It eases coughing

This clears the airways and relieves symptoms of productive cough.

Especially suitable for inhalation

Mucosolvan® Solution is ideal for inhalative secretion therapy with commercially available inhalation or nebulization devices.

Through inhalation, the active ingredient reaches the airways directly and can act specifically there.

Areas of Application

Mucosolvan® Solution is used for mucolytic treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs.

The mucolytic effect can be additionally supported by adequate fluid intake.

Recommended Use – Oral Administration

The solution can be diluted with liquids such as tea, water, or fruit juice.

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over:

• First 3 days of treatment:
  4 ml three times daily

• Thereafter:
  2 ml three times daily

Children aged 6 to 12 years:

• 2 ml two to three times daily

Children aged 2 to 6 years:

• 1 ml three times daily

Children under 2 years:

• Only under medical supervision:
  1 ml twice daily

Use for Inhalation

The solution can be used with modern inhalation devices.

Adults, adolescents and children aged 6 and over:

• Inhale 2–3 ml once or twice daily

Children under 6 years:

• Inhale 2 ml once or twice daily

If no improvement occurs after 4 to 5 days, medical advice should be sought.

Ingredients

Active ingredient:

• 7.5 mg ambroxol hydrochloride per 1 ml solution

Other ingredients:

Benzalkonium chloride, citric acid, sodium monohydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, purified water.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Mucosolvan® can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Possible side effects include:

• Nausea

• Stomach upset

• Taste disturbances

• Irritation in the mouth and throat

• Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching

In rare cases, severe skin reactions may occur. If skin changes or allergic symptoms occur, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
