Gaspan® is a herbal medicinal product for the symptomatic treatment of digestive complaints. The high-dose combination of peppermint oil and caraway oil has a deflating, antispasmodic, and pain-relieving effect on gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence, bloating, and mild abdominal cramps.

Indications

For the symptomatic treatment of:

• mild gastrointestinal cramps

• flatulence

• bloating

• digestive abdominal pain

• functional digestive complaints

Active ingredients per soft capsule

• 90 mg peppermint oil (Mentha x piperita L., aetheroleum)

• 50 mg caraway oil (Carum carvi L., aetheroleum)

Dosage

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults

• 1 soft capsule twice daily

• preferably in the morning and at midday

Method of Administration

• Swallow capsules whole with sufficient water.

• Do not chew, divide or open.

• Can be taken independently of meals.

• After taking, wait at least 30 minutes before the next meal.

Duration of Use

Improvement of symptoms can usually be expected within 2 to 4 weeks.

Treatment can be extended to up to 3 months if necessary.

If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 2 weeks, a doctor should be consulted.

Contraindications

Gaspan® must not be taken in case of:

• hypersensitivity to peppermint oil, caraway oil, menthol or any other ingredient

• gallbladder diseases (e.g. gallstones)

• inflammatory diseases of the bile ducts

• liver diseases

• lack of stomach acid (achlorhydria)

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Interactions

Medications to reduce stomach acid (e.g. proton pump inhibitors, antacids or H2 antihistamines) should be taken at least 2 hours before Gaspan®.

Possible Side Effects

Frequency unknown:

• heartburn

• nausea

• burping

• burning in the anal area

• allergic reactions

• skin redness

• itching

• swelling

Notes

In case of fever, jaundice, vomiting, blood in the stool or severe abdominal pain, medical advice should be sought immediately.

Not suitable for children under 8 years of age.

Important information about excipients

• Contains sorbitol (up to 11 mg per capsule)

• Practically sodium-free (less than 23 mg sodium per capsule)
