Chlorhexamed® Solution

An antiseptic agent for the mouth and throat area.

What is Chlorhexamed® Solution and what is it used for?

Chlorhexamed® Solution is a 0.1% chlorhexidine solution used for disinfection in the mouth and throat.

The preparation combats bacterial pathogens and also has a weaker effect against fungi. Rinsing and gargling can treat and prophylactically support bacterial infections in the mouth and throat area.

Areas of Application

• Reduction and prevention of bacterial dental plaque

• Treatment of gum inflammation (gingivitis)

• Treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases (periodontopathies)

• Support for tonsillitis, angina, lateral pharyngitis, and inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa

• Application before and after surgical procedures in the mouth and throat area

• Treatment of aphthae, oral mucosal inflammations (stomatitis), and tongue inflammations (glossitis)

• Help with bad breath when normal oral hygiene is not possible

• Oral care for individuals with limited ability to brush their teeth

Application

Adults:

Fill the dosing cap to the 15 ml mark and rinse in the mouth or gargle for approximately 1 minute. Then spit it out – do not swallow and do not rinse afterward.

Apply twice daily, preferably in the morning and evening after meals.

Teeth should be brushed with toothpaste immediately before use and then thoroughly rinsed with water.

For dentures, clean them and additionally soak them in Chlorhexamed® Solution for 15-20 minutes.

The solution is ready for use and should be applied undiluted.

Duration of Application

Typically used for a period of 3 weeks in combination with mechanical tooth cleaning.

Use in Children and Adolescents

Not suitable for children under 6 years of age.

Children under 12 years of age should only use the product under medical or dental supervision.

Adolescents aged 12 and over can use the adult dosage, unless otherwise prescribed.

Important Notes

• Do not swallow in large quantities.

• Contains alcohol.

• In case of accidental swallowing of larger quantities, especially by children, contact a doctor immediately.

Side Effects

Temporary taste disturbances, burning sensation on the tongue, discoloration of teeth and tongue, and irritation of the mucous membrane may occur.

Ingredients

Active ingredient: Chlorhexidine digluconate.

Other ingredients: Alcohol, glycerol, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, flavorings (anethole, clove oil, levomenthol, cinnamon oil), coloring agent E124 (Ponceau 4R), purified water.
