Nail fungus often begins with white, yellowish, or brownish discolorations at the nail edge. If left untreated, the infection spreads further, the nail becomes brittle, thickens, and can partially detach from the nail bed over time.

Canesten® Bifonazol comp. – Ointment + Nail Set has been specially developed to precisely remove infected nail areas and effectively combat fungal pathogens at the same time. The treatment is carried out in two coordinated phases.

In the first phase, the diseased nail substance is softened with the ointment and gradually removed. The contained urea specifically softens the affected nail portion, while healthy nail areas are preserved. At the same time, the active ingredient bifonazole combats the fungal pathogens directly in the affected area.

In the second phase, Canesten® Bifonazole cream is applied to the exposed nail bed. This allows deeper-seated fungal pathogens to be reached, which are often responsible for a recurrence of nail fungus.

Indications

• Nail fungus on fingernails and toenails
• Fungal infections of the nail bed
• Brittle and discolored nails due to fungal infection
• Supportive treatment to prevent recurrent nail fungal infections

• Effective 2-phase short therapy
• Combats deep-seated fungal pathogens
• Specifically softens affected nail substance
• Healthy nail parts are preserved
• Visible progress often after just 1 to 2 weeks
• Supports healthy nail regrowth

Application

Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected nail once daily and cover with the enclosed plaster.

After 24 hours:

• Remove plaster
• Bathe the nail in warm water for about 10 minutes
• Carefully remove softened nail substance with the spatula
• Dry nail thoroughly
• Apply ointment again and attach plaster

Treatment is continued until all diseased nail areas are removed. This usually takes about 7 to 14 days.

Subsequently, continue treatment with Canesten® Bifonazol cream once daily for 4 weeks.

Note

The therapy should not be stopped prematurely, even if the symptoms have already improved.

If not all diseased nail parts are removed after 7 to 14 days, or if the nail bed does not appear smooth, medical advice should be sought.

Medical clarification is also recommended for severe nail infestation or uncertainty regarding the diagnosis.

Use during the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided. During breastfeeding, breastfeeding should be interrupted.

Storage

Store dry and not excessively warm. Keep medicines out of reach of children.

Ingredients

Active ingredients:
Bifonazole and urea.

Other ingredients:
White petrolatum, wool wax, and bleached wax.

Side effects

Occasionally, skin irritations, burning, redness, itching, or flaking may occur in the treated area. In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions to individual ingredients may occur.
