Candibene® 100 mg Vaginal Tablets

Candibene® 100 mg Vaginal Tablets contain the active ingredient clotrimazole. Clotrimazole belongs to the group of antifungals and is effective against numerous fungi that can cause infections in the vaginal area.

The active ingredient inhibits the growth of fungi or can kill them. In addition, clotrimazole is effective against certain bacteria and against some single-celled organisms, including trichomonads.

Clotrimazole acts on the mucous membrane surface, rapidly penetrates the mucous membrane and also reaches deeper mucous membrane layers. The vaginal tablets are colourless and odourless and are generally well tolerated.

Indications

Candibene® 100 mg Vaginal Tablets are used for:

• Infectious discharge caused by yeast fungi (Candida)

• Vaginal inflammation caused by fungi, especially Candida species

• Vaginal inflammation caused by trichomonads

• Superinfections with clotrimazole-sensitive bacteria in an existing infection

For reliable treatment of a Trichomonas vaginalis infection, a physician-prescribed treatment with a suitable antibiotic may also be required.

If symptoms do not improve after 3 days or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.

Dosage and Administration

Unless otherwise prescribed:

• 1 vaginal tablet daily

• Apply in the evening before bedtime

• Treatment duration: 6 consecutive days

The vaginal tablet is inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina with the help of the enclosed applicator.

Instructions for Use

The vaginal tablets require sufficient moisture to dissolve completely.

If the vagina is dry, the tablet may not dissolve completely and individual tablet residues may be expelled. To avoid this, the tablet should be inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina, preferably before bedtime.

In case of a diagnosed yeast infection of the glans and foreskin of the partner, he should also be treated with a suitable topically applied preparation.

• Sodium hydrogen carbonate

• Adipic acid

• Highly dispersed silicon dioxide

• Polysorbate 80

• Magnesium stearate

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Candibene® 100 mg Vaginal Tablets can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Occasionally to rarely

• Burning in the vaginal area

• Itching

• Skin irritation

• Redness

• Local hypersensitivity reactions

Rarely

• Rash

• Swelling

• Lower abdominal pain

• Difficulty urinating

Very rarely or not known

• Allergic reactions

• Severe hypersensitivity reactions with swelling or breathing difficulties

If severe irritation, allergic reactions, swelling or breathing difficulties occur, treatment should be discontinued and medical advice sought immediately.
