Ammi majus, also known as bishop's weed, is a plant species found primarily in the Mediterranean region and Egypt. It belongs to the carrot family (Apiaceae) and can grow up to two meters tall. The plant has striking white umbel flowers and green, pinnate leaves.

In antiquity, Ammi majus was used for various purposes, both in cooking and traditional medicine. Interestingly, the plant was also considered a protection against the sun, as it was used in folk medicine to treat sunburn.

Traditionally, Ammi majus is used in homeopathy for complaints associated with skin and respiratory diseases. It is also frequently mentioned in the treatment of allergies and rheumatic complaints.
