Alpinamed® Cough Suppressant

Traditional herbal medicinal product for the symptomatic treatment of mucous membrane irritations in the mouth and throat and associated dry cough. The application of this traditional herbal medicinal product in the specified area of application is based exclusively on long-standing use.

Alpinamed® Cough Suppressant Marshmallow Syrup contains marshmallow root, which is rich in natural mucilage. These form a protective film over the irritated mucous membranes in the mouth and throat, thereby soothing the cough reflex. Especially with dry cough and scratchy throat, the syrup has a pleasant irritation-relieving and soothing effect.

The syrup is suitable for adults and children from 3 years of age. Thanks to its liquid dosage form, it can be taken directly or diluted in water or tea. A measuring cup and a dosing syringe are included for exact dosage.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents from 12 years:
10 ml 3 times daily

Children from 6 to 12 years:
1.5 ml 4 times daily

Children from 3 to 6 years:
1 ml 4 times daily

Method of administration

For oral use. Shake well before use.

A measuring cup and a dosing syringe are included for exact dosage. After use, the dosing aids should be rinsed with warm water and dried.

The syrup can be taken directly from the syringe or diluted in water or tea.

Duration of use

If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 1 week, a doctor should be consulted.

Shelf life

• Unopened: 3 years
• After opening: 3 months

Storage

Do not store above 25 °C.

With herbal medicines, cloudiness may occasionally occur, especially with temperature fluctuations. These do not affect the effectiveness.

Ingredients

Active ingredient per 1 ml

• 0.97 ml marshmallow root syrup, prepared from 0.48 ml liquid extract of marshmallow root (DEV 1:22, extractant: water)

Other ingredients

Sucrose, purified water, sorbitol solution 70%, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, ethanol 96%.

Contains per ml:

• 772 mg sucrose
• 24 mg sorbitol solution 70%
• 7.24 mg total ethanol content

Side effects

Alpinamed® Cough Suppressant Marshmallow Syrup is generally well tolerated.

Occasionally, mild gastrointestinal discomfort may occur.

The preservatives methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate can cause allergic reactions, including delayed reactions.

In case of known hypersensitivity to marshmallow root or any of the other ingredients, the medicinal product should not be used.
