Phytolacca americana, also known as American pokeweed, is a plant native to North America. It belongs to the pokeweed family and is commonly found in moist areas such as forests and riparian zones.

The plant has a long history in traditional folk medicine. Its berries are poisonous and should not be consumed undiluted. In homeopathy, however, Phytolacca americana is used in highly diluted form. Interestingly, it was also formerly used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments and is known for its characteristic, deep violet berries.
