Action

Zinc oxide supports the drying out and healing of cold sores. It is often used for weeping wounds and promotes crust formation on the blisters.

Benzocaine relieves pain, burning, and itching. As a local anesthetic, it adheres to the lips for a long time, where it exerts its pain-relieving effect.

Phenol offers additional protection against bacteria. This protection is particularly important for open cold sores, as they are more susceptible to bacterial infections.

Due to its slightly bitter taste, Herposicc is also suitable for children, as it makes licking off the ointment more difficult.

Indications

Herposicc can be used for the rapid healing of cold sores.

Cold sores are caused by an infection with herpes viruses. The initial infection often occurs in childhood and often remains without visible symptoms. Factors such as a weakened immune system, febrile illnesses, stress, hormonal changes, or intense sun exposure can reactivate the viruses.

Course of the illness

Prodromal or multiplication phase
The viruses migrate from the nerve cells into the superficial skin cells and begin to multiply. Typical symptoms include a feeling of tension, slight pulling, tingling, or itching on the lips.

Blister phase
The typical grouped blisters form. The affected areas are reddened, and pain or burning may occur.

Dosage and application

Apply Herposicc lip ointment several times a day to the affected blisters.

Side effects

In sensitive individuals, local skin irritations or hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
