ACTIVIR® Cold Sore Cream

Areas of Application

Activir Cold Sore Cream is used for the relief of pain and itching associated with cold sores on the face.

Dosage, Type, and Duration of Application

Activir Cold Sore Cream should be applied to the affected skin areas 5 times daily at regular intervals.

The treatment duration is usually 4 days.

If symptoms worsen during treatment or if the blisters have not crusted over or healed after 10 days at the latest, a doctor should be consulted.

Treatment should be started as early as possible, as soon as initial signs such as itching, redness, or a feeling of tension appear. However, application can also be started in later stages of the infection, for example, with nodules or blisters.

Side Effects

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders

Occasionally (less than 1 in 100, but more than 1 in 1,000 treated individuals):
Temporary burning or stinging sensation on the treated skin areas after applying Activir Cold Sore Cream.
Slight dryness or flaking of the skin, as well as itching.

Rarely (less than 1 in 1,000, but more than 1 in 10,000 treated individuals):
Skin redness and local skin inflammation (contact dermatitis).

Immune system disorders

Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 treated individuals, including isolated cases):
Acute hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema (fluid accumulation in the tissue) and urticaria.
