Fast relief for pain and itching in the anal area – e.g. with hemorrhoids

Posterisan® akut is an over-the-counter medication for the symptomatic treatment of pain and itching in the anal area, such as those that can occur with hemorrhoids.

The rectal ointment contains 5% lidocaine. The proven local anesthetic numbs the affected area locally and can thus quickly relieve pain and itching.

• Pain in the anal area
• Itching in the anal area
• Discomfort, for example due to hemorrhoids

Active ingredient

1 g of rectal ointment contains:

• 50 mg lidocaine (5%)

Properties

• Acts quickly against pain and itching
• With local anesthetic lidocaine
• White, homogeneous and odorless ointment
• Gel-like consistency for pleasant application
• Vegan – no animal ingredients
• Free from parabens and paraffins

Application

Posterisan® akut is used in the anal area. The rectal ointment should be used according to the dosage instructions in the package leaflet or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.

The recommended dosage should not be exceeded, as higher doses of lidocaine can increase the risk of side effects.

Children

Safety in children under 12 years of age or under 50 kg body weight has not been established. Insufficient data are available for this age group.

Contraindications

Posterisan® akut must not be used if you are allergic to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients.

In case of heart failure, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before use.

In case of a fungal infection in the area of application, an appropriate antifungal treatment is additionally required.

Interactions

Particular caution is required when using simultaneously with:

• other local anesthetics
• certain medications for cardiac arrhythmias (antiarrhythmics)

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about other medicines you are taking or using.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Lidocaine crosses the placenta. Therefore, medical advice should be sought before use during pregnancy.

Lidocaine passes into breast milk. An effect on the breastfed infant is probably not to be expected, but a doctor should still be consulted during breastfeeding before use.

Other ingredients

Cetyl alcohol, Macrogol 400, Macrogol 1500, Macrogol 3000 and purified water.

Cetyl alcohol can cause localized skin irritations, for example contact dermatitis.

Storage

Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the stated expiry date.

After opening, Posterisan® akut can be used for a maximum of 6 months. No special storage conditions are required.
